Ed Atkins is Senior Lecturer at the School of Geographical Sciences at the University of Bristol. His work is focused on interdisciplinary research into energy transitions, climate change communication and a just transition.
He looks at how sustainability and/or decarbonisation policies can be made fairer and more inclusive. Atkin arrived at the University of Bristol School of Geographical Sciences in 2018 – the same year that he completed his PhD at the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies (also at Bristol).
In 2023, he published A Just Energy Transition: Getting Decarbonisation Right in a Time of Crisis.
